Youth Service Bureau nets $8,700 at fundraiser event
The YSB
'Kroozer's Cars for Kids' fundraiser held Saturday, August 21, on
the Woodstock Square
was a success. About 265 classic cars and
hot-rods were on display. The event ran from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Raffle
ticket sales came in at about $4,400 for the 'Hope for the Future Hope Chest.'
This hand-crafted oak and cedar lined hope chest was overflowing with donations
including such items as a DVD player, a digital camera, two bicycles, gift certificates,
home décor items, sporting goods items and more.
Shelley Knebl of Algonquin was the fortunate winner of the chest and
all it's contents.
The 50/50 raffle winner
received $733.00 and donated $140.00 of the winnings back to the Youth Service
Bureau. Three new food vendors were at the event this year: Plum Garden Chinese
Food, Sub-Zero and the Lions Club. Also new this year was a watermelon spitting
contest for youth and adults and face-painting.
The event takes place
every summer and is sponsored by the Kroozers of Northern Illinoiz. All proceeds are donated
to YSB. Other merchant sponsors and local
business helped with donations as well. Sponsor's are listed on the YSB web-site
www.ysb4kids.org.
