YSB Volunteer Organizes Chicks with Checks & Dudes with Dollars

Woodstock resident Angela Montgomery is organizing a new fundraiser for YSB. It is called Chicks with Checks & Dudes with Dollars.  It is being held July 27 at a YSB board members home in Bull Valley. The YSB board members are the hosts of the event. The concept is simple, some appetizers, some friends, a cause and a collection. The collection from the evening is being matched by a corporate donation through the Montgomery family.

Angela came up with the idea after seeing an article in an Oprah magazine. It told of a fundraiser dinner held at an individual’s home that was done as a progressive dinner.  It was called “Chicks with Checks” and they raised $3,000 the first time it was done.  The money raised was donated to a local center for homeless children.

Angela tried the idea in her last hometown, Nixa, Missouri. She called it “Womenade.” The cause was a medical clinic serving at risk children and seniors.  They had a pot luck dinner and someone talked about the medical clinic and donations were accepted.  She offered to adopt the concept to YSB and organize the event.

When Angela came to Woodstock in 2004 she looked for a cause that she could contribute her time to. After some research and calls she decided to volunteer her time to YSB.  Angela and her husband Kevin have volunteered their time and effort for YSB over the past year.  They feel helping building healthy children and strong families are the bedrock of strong communities.  YSB has been luck to have them.

YSB is a not-for-profit organization that has been caring for children and families for 31 years by providing affordable counseling and prevention services to the community.
