The Youth Service Bureau (YSB) adds a Home Visitor to its teenage mothers initiative program (T.A.M.I.)
Tricia Wallace has been hired by YSB to be a home visitor for the T.A.M.I. program. T.A.M.I. is a program for pregnant and parenting teens that has been running for 10 years. T.A.M.I. provides prenatal education, parenting information, and support, in a welcoming group atmosphere. The home visitor has been added to further enhance the support that teens need. There is no charge for T.A.M.I. or for the Home Visitor services.
Tricia will visit teens in the privacy of their homes to help in any way she can. Tricia will work with the family if needed and help the teen to overcome barriers to continuing education. She can help the teen with feelings of isolation and with additional support.
Tricia has 5 children of her own, has been a mentor for 3 years, and worked extensively in social services and child care. Tricia will be an asset to the T.A.M.I. program and a resource for pregnant and parenting teens. The Home Visitor has been made possible by a grant from the Mental Health Resource League.
The T.A.M.I. group meets Tuesdays at the First Presbyterian Church in Woodstock at 4:30 – 6:00 P.M. Each week time is spent devoted to sharing, discussion and activities. A light meal is provided.
YSB is a not-for-profit organization that has been caring for children and families for 30 years by providing affordable counseling and prevention services in McHenry County.
