YSB starts new group to help youth with chronic illness: Courageous Kids of All Ages
Having a chronic illness can be be challenging for young people. They may experience anxiety, fear, stress and anger. It can have an impact in their self-esteem, family, peer relationships and in school. This group will provide youth with the opportunity to connect with others in the same situation. In this group they will learn valuable coping skills, share how they stay healthy, and most importantly, that they are not alone. It will be lead by a male and female therapist on Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. To register for this group contact YSB Intake at 815-338-7360. Press Release
The Chapel of Grayslake Donated Backpacks to Willow Brooke Youth
YSB is very grateful to The Chapel of Grayslake for helping the youth that attend the Willow Brooke Resource Center go back to school with fully stocked backpacks. The high cost of sending kids back to school is very difficult for many families and this donation was a big help.

YSB Counselors, Juvenile Probation Officers and Light Center Staff Receive Certification in Truthought Corrective Thinking and Equine Assisted Learning
YSB staff and partners attended special training in the nationally acclaimed Truthought Corrective Thinking curriculum and received certification. Truthought has proven effective for prevention and intervention with all ages and many
populations. Truthought's approach has application well beyond clinical and
correctional settings with tremendous potential for reaching and influencing
behavior changes from the least, or "nominally irresponsible" person, to the most "at risk" populations in our schools, our businesses, and our wider community. Truthought's Process offers the tools and skills needed to successfully lead individuals from negative behavior toward lives of lasting, positive change. This training was made possible thanks to a grant from Kraft Employee Fund of Chicago. See press release for more details.
