YSB Talks with Woodstock High School Prep Class

22 freshmen from the Woodstock High School PREP Program came to the Youth Service Bureau (YSB) 2/24 with their instructor, Sophia Guild, to learn about the positive programs YSB has to offer them.  PREP program students are identified through the school as candidates for the program due to attendance problems, and have volunteered to be in it. PREP helps the students to become successful by offering them instruction on life skills, reading buddies, goal setting, counseling about the future, and field trips to places like YSB.   The program is funded by a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education.

YSB speakers at the workshop were:  Susan Krause - YSB Executive Director; Jeanne Swanson - YSB Director of the Day Reporting Program; Candy Spasojevich - Assistant Director; Sheila Krubsack - Substance Abuse Counselor, Pennie Meyers - Assistant Director and Pat Stoiber - Direct of Marketing.  Each spoke of the various ways YSB supports teenagers and how they can contact YSB.  YSB offers prevention programming for schools, life skills and career classes; responsibility, accountability and positive thinking programs; conflict resolution, small groups; individual counseling, and mentoring. Sophia Guild, the PREP instructor, said the kids had a positive experience at YSB.

YSB is a not-for-profit organization that has been helping youth and families in McHenry County since 1975 and is located at 101 South Jefferson Street in Woodstock.  For more information visit the YSB web site at www.ysb4kids.org, or call 815.338.7360.
