Lead by YSB Early Childhood Mental Health Specialists the groups will address issues specific to preschoolers with their caregivers such as tantrums, challenging behavior, and separation anxiety. The group will combine caregivers with the children for the first 15 minutes; then separate into child and caregiver groups. The children will work on social skills and parents will address the challenges of raising preschoolers and how to support social skill development at home.
YSB staff has been receiving ongoing training in social and emotional development of young children from the Illinois Children’s Mental Health Consultation Project. This is the result of a $25,000 grant to enhance and expand mental health services for children ages 0 to 7 in McHenry County. YSB was one of five pilot sites chosen in the state of Illinois. Group size is limited so early registration is recommended. Contact YSB Intake for registration.
