YSB T.A.M.I. Group Chosen for St. Elizabeth Confirmation Project

The Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church of Crystal Lake confirmation class of 2004 has chosen the YSB Teenage Mothers Initiative (T.A.M.I.) Group to become a part of their confirmation project.  The project involves helping those in the community who need it. The confirmation class consists of 9 freshman students who especially like to help people their own age.  The help they are providing is to supply snacks for the young parents and their children at the weekly meetings.

The T.A.M.I. meetings take place Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Woodstock. There the young pregnant and parenting teens receive group support, information on parenting, how to care for themselves and their families, and learn how to face the challenges unique to teenage parenting.

Each confirmation student is responsible for the preparation and delivery of the weekly snack.  The whole family is involved and helps the student with the task. They are bringing sandwiches, veggie trays, fruits, cookies, and at Easter they brought colored eggs.  The snack delivery program is for nine weeks.

YSB has been running the T.A.M.I. program for 7 years.  Group size varies, and all teens that are pregnant or parenting in McHenry County are invited to attend. The program is funded by grants to YSB, and can always use support. To donate to the T.A.M.I. Group, please contact Pat Stoiber at YSB, 815.338.7360. The program would like to reach out to other communities.
